Hahaha, ya I always hated that trim. I actually removed it and welded the holes shut on my 99 Acura Integra. Could not do it on this car though, as the door and fenders have indents for said trim.

I had a 1995 Honda Civic EX. And you know what? I still like it better than most newer shitboxes. It was fun, tossable, easy to work on, and I didn’t care what happened to it. Clocked over 220,000 miles before I got rid of it and it ran just fine when I did end up selling it. It even looked better than most newer

In the PC-ness that is 2017 America, I will be very surprised if Toyota doesn’t catch all manner of shit for this. 15, or even 10 years ago, the “Send your girlfriend away” [so you can do man things] would have been societally acceptable. But today, it will likely be viewed as unacceptable and sexist.

Alexis Hasty’s position and comments are certainly provocative in the current climate of the issues she is addressing. In light of such a divisive climate on the matter, I cannot even contemplate how to start a respectful or reasonable discourse here and I understand how upsetting this matter truly is.

That picture of the human in the car is really, really disturbing...

I think everyone agrees with you, at least to some degree, that neither Uber nor Lyft are paragons of Social Justice or beacons of progressive thought. And the idea to boycott one, or both of them is something I do not at all find to be out of line.

You know, I do not think anyone will ever really argue that Uber is not the most moral of companies or that their leadership is of the “best human beings” variety. That said, I find it interesting that people who try to jam a square peg into a round hole get really surprised when it doesn’t work out for them.

the best movie ever made, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Ya, I live in Los Angeles. I get it. And the world certainly isn’t the way it ought to be. I just don’t buy the doom and gloom outlook for people trapped with “no other choice.”

Well, I guess my novel deserved a novel of a response :P

Wow, thanks for your reply! I really do get your dismay with Uber; personally, I think the founder is not a particularly good human being and is the very definition of our wealth gap problem. That said:

No, that makes entirely too much sense. Stop making sense, dammit!

Not taking sides here, just curious:

Look back at how many people liked my original comments and I would argue the VAST majority of people who READ my comments agree with me. But this is a CAR ENTHUSIAST website, so I would expect as much; that fact alone certainly doesn’t make me, or them, right, or wrong.

Oh dear, here we go again...

I have a 69 Charger (and a 66 LeMans, amusingly). I can tell you that you are spot on. The sheer number of 2nd gen chargers destroyed in film made it very difficult to find mine at a reasonable price 5 years ago and has actually doubled my car’s value in that time.

Ummm.

Awesome write up, Tom.

I certainly see where that idea comes from, in terms of the overall shape and projector position, but at such a flat headlight, I think it is different enough and fits the car well.

Thank you so much for putting this together. Trying to find a good side by side was driving me nuts.
