Um, that it is possible to buy a decent car without going into ridiculous debt? I thought that would’ve been obvious.

“if this were the case, H.S. econ tells me the price of used cars would skyrocket, making them as unaffordable as new ones” But new ones would get cheaper because fewer people would be buying them. And not everyone would start buying used cars.
Yes, there are a lot of stupid people in America and elsewhere. Nobody needs a $48K car. I bought a Jetta GLI in 2019 for about $31K with tax and everything. That same car lists today for a bit under $35K. Four doors, four seats, 0-60 in under 6 seconds, drives great, basically a GTI with a trunk for a few thousand…
“Another option is to try increasing the brightness of your dashboard lights. That should cause your pupils to constrict, which should somewhat improve your night vision.” Um... huh?
False equivalence. “Not having apartheid” does not mean “just let the terrorists carry bombs onto airliners”. A country can do something right even if it doesn’t do everything right, the US included. Try exercising those critical thinking skills, ‘kay?
On El Al? When in recent memory?
Flights were a lot more than 20% more expensive in the ‘70s. Flying used to be something rich people did. Mere middle-class folks used to drive to vacation spots instead of flying ‘cause it was too expensive to fly.
I’m sure it is (and sometimes it simply isn’t available), but I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a situation where it was worse than the regular line. But hey, California is “socialist”, right, so maybe they care more about the common man than the ‘leets? (Just kidding.)
Yeah, what could possibly go wrong. <eye roll> Do you think Israeli flights are so safe because they don’t have security? Or because they have more?
You mean when flights were much more expensive?
I dunno, I have always found PreCheck to be a major time saver. I was traveling with someone last year, from Jax, and I had PreCheck and he didn’t, and (I know I’m a jerk but) I didn’t feel like waiting in line, so I went on the PreCheck line - I was through in like 3 minutes, and then waited (sitting down at least)…
“For” would also be correct here.
Re Atkinson’s F1: what’s also noteworthy (not sure if it’s cool or impressive, maybe hilarious) is that, after wrecking it twice, he fixed it up with the insurance money, and sold it for more than he paid for it.
So do Rahssian sailoors, I theenks.
“Getting” tired of superhero movies? No, I’ve been tired of them for some time now. But Deadpool? Nuh-uh. I will pay $20 to see Deadpool IX the day it comes out.
Came here to say this.
Any celebrity with a 959. E.g. Jerry Seinfeld, who gets extra points for also owning a 918 Spyder and a Carrera GT.
The Cybertruck looks so ridiculous in that photo, like there was a glitch in the texture processor and it only got the low-poly-count rendering.
I’m not denying that, but it’s also not what I was asking. Forget about increases in wages - how do the wages themselves actually compare? Do VW workers get paid more, less, or the same as UAW workers?
Is that the case? Is there any data on what US VW employees get paid relative to the US-based companies with UAW shops?
