EL isn’t just battery dependent, its high voltage driver can also run via AC. either way, its dependent on a voltage source.

EL wire is also incredibly fragile. Ive had many versions we use in lighting design and more have failed quickly then have survived, and thats with being very careful with it. Looks great but is undependable.
