well any photography requires good light, but shooting in raw gathers much more image data and isn't preprocessed by the camera allowing you to adjust exposure and noise reduction in post process yourself. it yields much better results.

i do this not for the time but for the perfect bagel size egg it makes. btw, i use a small corning ware bowl, its a better size than the coffee mug.

shoot Raw when possible, its very easy to salvage a dark photo without going through this.
