Wife and I are looking to replace her MKX. The new Nautilus checks all of our boxes big time but no chance I can work in American manufacturing and buy a Chinese-made car.

Yeah, as much as people who work in slaughterhouses end up traumatized, I can’t imagine being an airport baggage worker being told to throw ONE wriggling, squirming animal into a wood chipper. Who was so desperate to keep their job that they were willing to do that for...like...a couple days straight?
Oh, it’s not just tax dollars, the head of Buc-ee’s donates directly to Abbot and other Texas republicans.
Buc-ee’s.
Fine, ChampCar.
Hoonigan did this, they called it Build & Battle. Teams built an vehicles on a limited budget and raced them. I’m assuming the time and budget input didn’t match the revenue generated and they didn’t do it for long.
That’s called Lemons.
I would guess the torque converter unlocks when the transmission thinks it’s stopped, but the rear wheels definitely lock up. It has caused multiple accidents. Here’s one from a 2014:
Previously the transmission would see 0 mph and say, “Zero mph? I must be stopped! Better shift to first!”
The recall already existed for the 2011-2013 trucks, Ford is finally extending it to the 2014 trucks that everyone knew were affected, too. Too bad for the thousands of 2014 owners that already had to pay for the fix out of pocket. They’re supposed to be eligible for reimbursement but good luck fighting that fight.
The smartest thing the oil companies ever did was to invent the term “Carbon Footprint” and shift the pollution blame to individuals.
I bought a 2013 Focus SE brand new in 2014 for $17,500. I got $500 with Ford’s manual transmission discount. SE Sport package, so it had the cool graphite wheels and leather. I sold it after a few years when I ended up needing something that could fit a car seat behind me (6'5"). But I miss that car, it probably would…
2.7/6 speed. So I don’t have to worry about the water pump issue, and the rear main seal was already replaced under warranty. But the dealership underfilled the trans after doing that work and the trans would shudder under heavy acceleration for several months until I finally figured out it was a fluid level issue.…
Last week all three recommended articles were from Quartz, which I assume is just some kind of AI content generator.
But do they make lowering kits?
That’s what we did with her MKX. Original MSRP was $64k in 2016, we got it for $28k in 2019. I have a feeling the off-lease RXs won’t be had at that kind of discount, both because it’s a Lexus and not a Lincoln, and also because new cars don’t depreciate like they used to pre-pandemic.
Yeah, we’re both tall and the kids are growing so the compact 2 rows feel a bit crushing. We drove the Venza XLE which is roughly RAV4 sized and my line of sight was at the top of the windshield, felt claustrophobic. The dealer let us sit in a Limited and its power seat was able to lower down to where I wasn’t…
Wife and I are looking for something to replace her 2016 MKX. We love the size and the power is nice, but we’re looking for an mpg bump. Next car should be:
The Cybertruck comes with All-Season tires while the F-150 could’ve been equipped with All Terrains or similar.
And does that same threat apply to the new Lincoln Nautilus, made solely in China and then imported into the US for sale?
