I used to work for a beverage company where I would regularly hire drivers without experience, train them for their CDLs, and pay them $45K + strong benefits. We’d always have a few leave after getting the CDL so they could work for themselves. Or, when fracking was in full swing, they’d go make $100k+ moving water

I hope this doesn’t come off as condescending, because I really do want to understand. Why continue to do this?

Yeah, I read this climactic paragraph several times trying to make sense of it:

Anyone of any gender who has spent any time in a remote location knows that humans will be your biggest threat.

The problem here was a loose nut behind the wheel.

It hit a curb, not a crowd.

Oh I’m gonna guess this was populated only by insufferable douchebags.

Yeah this is the guy who has a 3rd gen camaro with a carb’d 350 swapped in. Brags about how many mustangs he beat back in ‘95

In addition to the high mileage, stained carpets, and niggly bits that aren’t working, a 4-speed auto with the 4.8L V8 is not going to be particularly sporty. So it’s not really much of a sleeper in the modern world where 250HP engines coupled to 8-speed trannies are as common as dogshit and hit 60 mph in ~6 sec

This is too much for what it is. And, the price screams he’s trying to get his money back out. Sorry, not going to happen. And, not paying a premium for someone's unfinished project.

Love the sleeper aspect of the brick, and this is one of those cars that I haven’t really seen the ‘drop an LS in’ method, though I would have probably put more fun wheels on it.  Interior is in way nicer shape than I’ve seen in an older Volvo.

I bought a little house this summer. It was built in 1925, bought last year by a flipper and we bought the renovated results. Roughly 70% of the first floor was made into a huge kitchen with a huge island. While gorgeous and equipped with enough storage and such that we can cook basically anything in it, the sheer

I’d argue less for the island as status symbol but more of a practical move for women (or any household head) to multitask and be included in family life. As a mother living in a fairly untouched 100 year old craftsman in Oakland I can tell you our kitchen was built as a lonely, isolated room. Women were originally

Your opinion on this is wrong/misguided or messed up.

I convinced my wife to test drive a minivan as an alternative to an SUV for carting around our two large dogs. She quickly converted when she realized not only is it more spacious, but thanks to the general minivan hatted we were able to get a much better equipped example than the SUV’s in the same price range.

The minivan.

PT Cruiser. It’s not the best car ever made, but I wouldn’t say it’s any worse than a lot of other domestic products of that era, but it’s something the internet has latched onto that it’s cool to hate on, like Nickleback.

This is so crazy. I just assumed the top photo was a digital rendering to illustrate the situation in hyperbolic fashion; the GLA even looked like it was hastily ‘shopped into the picture (that’s what my brain interpreted, looking for a figment of rationality in this whole situation). I figured we’d see video of a car

It’s in the middle of a very wealthy neighborhood filled with people who can’t/won’t ever put their phones down because they believe themselves to be very important. It’s as if they built a race course between Brentwood and Beverly Hills.

Because every Republican of the adult Boomer era spent all of the wind in their lungs convincing Boomers that the government was the enemy. Boomers have been a historically self-centered enough generation to have bought into it and rejected the collectivism that was one of the hallmarks of their parents’ generation.
