I'm actually switching back from a credit union to Wells Fargo begrudgingly. WF is one of the banks that supports ApplePay. I also had a problem with the hours at my local credit union. They're 2 branches were only open Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm which meant if I needed to do anything in person I had to take time

Ah, Ceffeine! I forgot about that. It was the first utility I ever installed when I got my first Macbook when they started making them with Intel processors. What a great call

BetterTouchTool (OS X)

This is the killer app I've been waiting for. When I heard there was a Plex app in development for Xbox One I plopped down the $75(?) for the lifetime PlexPass to support them. I've had nothing but positive experiences with it in my home.

It's nice having another tool in the belt, but it's a shame the scope is limited to Chrome. Typically when I see malware/adware I run a battery of ComboFix, ADWCleaner, and Malwarebytes to thoroughly clean it out. The next steps usually involve resetting the browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) and use the correct search

Windows 8.1 handles backups a bit differently, if not clunky. It won't do an automated system image then differential backups in one shot. The process I had to go through for my network storage was manually run a system backup (sys image) and then specify the network storage for File History.

For sure! The aforementioned routers and NAS boxes use linux variants so the process is probably within reach of most linux folks.

This is a great project if you want Time Capsule on the cheap. Newer routers will sometimes have this functionality built in (Asus) and NAS boxes as well (Synology).

The fix for this in case anyone is interested. The .SyncIgnore file has been moved to a hidden folder called .sync. In there, there is .SyncIgnore and .StreamsList.

I'm curious to know if they fixed the com.apple.FinderInfo bug. Anyone syncing with an OS X knows all too well about the infinite syncing this caused.

If you're changing outlet, I would also highly recommend one of these (also under $10):

The MacRumors article is specifically talking about Bluetooth LE USB adapters. Timothy Shutes is talking about buying a replacement board that would be installed in the mac itself.

It's also worth noting people running the developer preview are saying even if you get a Bluetooth 4 capable USB dongle it will not allow Continuity to work. Perhaps someone will find a way to hack it in, but it looks like for the foreseeable future it needs to be an integrated BT controller.

A good router goes way beyond just serving up WAN content. Network storage, Time Machine, VPN, QoS, gigabit and fast wifi for LAN transfers, etc etc.

I bought the Asus a while ago on a whim largely because Asus equipment had been getting such amazing reviews. When I learned about Nighthawk I started reading up on several comparisons between the two. It looks like they are neck and neck in almost everything with one being slightly ahead of the other depending on the

Oops. Fuser. Stupid brain being on weekend mode.

I fished a Laserjet 4050N out of the dumpster with a new, in the box, toner cartridge not too long ago.

A guy at work still uses one of those. It's starting to jam more and more (especially during hot/humid days) but conceivably it just needs the rollers replaced and maybe a new fuser and it would be good to go.

I'll speak to that. I recently setup a DS412+ in my home because I wanted something a bit lighter than the i7 I was using. It's amazingly simple but is built on linux so you can tweak to your hearts content. The sheer number of options is almost overwhelming, especially if you add community package sources. This let

OSS and third party mail servers have come a long way recently. Zarafa purports to replicate a lot of Exchange functionality, including Outlook integration. I haven't tested it yet, but EAS is almost a must for me when it comes to mail systems lately.
