My aunt had the weirdest taste in movies. She would take the entire family (her mom, her kids, nephews and nieces - all under 18) to see things like Harlem Nights, Robocop 2, Reform School Girls ... I’m not sure which was more embarrassing, all of the nudity and gore or how unfun most of those films were (I do confess

In terms of current media - saw Captain Marvel Saturday. Just really fun. The first half hour is clunky, but when the film warms up, it’s truly big, goofy fun. I want to read the AV Club’s review again, but I think it’s a bit too hard on a film that isn’t all that deep. It’s not Winter Soldier or Black Panther, but I

Funny enough, I listened to the rebroadcast of Live From Here today, where Baptiste guest hosted, and my husband and I came to the conclusion that Baptiste is being underserved on The Late Show. He was relaxed, charming and had some nice stories to tell.

Why isn’t there a movie about the Mitfords? Or a limited series on HBO/Starz/PBS?

Someone not in love with GttG-I’s soundtrack? My secret tribe!

I don’t think it is Mjolnir, for pedantic reasons explained elsewhere:

Still an axe. Just a very hammer-shaped axe.

an unflinching badass who really doesn’t give a damn about your flying hammer, Thor

Speak, speak ... I want some Aaron Stack misanthropic goodness, please.

Can’t say I have a thing for JJ Abrams’ writing, although this premise sounds interesting. Then again, I had a real fondness for Kevin Smith’s Superman script from a slightly earlier era ...

I was on two plane rides this week and enjoyed several films, albeit flawed.

I noticed that the film is the closer for my local film festival next month (Cinequest in San Jose, CA) so I thought that arthouse distribution would be following forthwith ...

But they’re going to be defeated by computer viruses from the porn alien, aren’t they?

I like to think that the cold open was a callback to the Futura episode where Fry drinks 300 cups of coffee. If this isn’t so, don’t tell me, I prefer the fantasy.

He’s also one of God’s executives on the TBS show Miracle Workers, which means he gets a lot of scenes with Steve Buscemi.

My mind has trouble envisioning it, if only because Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Howard have such different mannerisms. A ripped Sir Percival Blakely, I can deal, but he really must be a fop. And I can’t see Hemsworth selling going into raptures about the kind of lace he recommended to the king for his cuffs.

You know, I already regret deleting the ep from my Tivo after watching it. So many good moments.

Thank you!
