It’s like the richest members of the union are offering to become Management, to let the actual Management off the hook. But I will say, props to SAG for maintaining any kind of solidarity between working actors and George Fucking Clooney.

Oh God, now I'm imagining the person who says, "There's nothing on... I'll just watch Tiger King again."

Worth noting that the subscription price also affects how many devices can sign into Netflix at a time. The most expensive plan allows 4 devices, the other plans allow 2. It makes a difference if you have a household with more than 2 people, and of course thr company knows that.

Ha "abortionist." They're called gynecologists these days, dude.

Wait, wait, wait. The low-rent Winnie the Pooh horror movies runs 120 minutes? Digital video was a mistake.

And 35% swamp.

I’ll admit, in this specific context, I’m delighted by the line about “the toxic masculinity his movies either examine or celebrate depending on your point of view.” I like that Scorcese is such an advocate for moviemaking as a form, but he doesn’t have a movie that I’d actually watch again.

When we watched the whole series, a friend of mine said, "Why are they portraying the Japanese guy so weirdly?" I assured her it was just the tip of the iceberg.

Oh no, what if George Reeves is next!?

Ironically, though, that Times op-ed “Cat Person” ensured that millions of people connected the story with an actual guy.

The episode where he falls through a bunch of drums made me say, “Wow, Chevy Chase is still funny.” And he had some solid line deliveries right up to the end. “She’s a dance major! She likes Twinkies! I don’t have to answer to you!” was top-notch “irritable old man.”

Yeah my wife and I watched Wandavision because NPR liked it and there was nothing else to do. By that standard it was almost as good as watching “Is It Cake” while also flipping through ASMR videos on my phone.

His two episodes of that “Masters of Horror” anthology are kind of the perfect tail for his career. There’s “Cigarette Burns,” which is a neat concept and beautifully shot, even if the super-gory finale didn’t really fit. And then there’s “Pro-Life,” which pulls the hat trick of being didactic, intentionally gross,

His real claim to fame for the past 20 years has been his refreshing honesty about how he lost his passion for directing and prefers to live off residuals and play video games with his kids. I have no idea how somebody looks at “irascible retiree John Carpenter” and assumes that he has another Halloween in him.

It may be the best Poe adaptation, but it’s only the Simpsons’ second-best Poe reference:

People seem to have very different opinions on Agents of SHIELD. Let me spend 87 hours in front of my TV to sort this out.

What if they cast Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio in a Spider-Man movie? Wait, they did that, and it still wasn’t interesting.

Streaming series generally go toward the premium-cable model, with short seasons and large budgets. For Disney+ especially, being more “TV-like” would mean retooling their whole brand.

Ironically, I checked out of the Avengers movies after Age of Ultron, so I found the show much more satisfying when it was focused on Wanda and really distracting when it got into the larger MCU gobbledygook.

Really, this debate boils down to whether people think a biopic of Oppenheimer is actually worthwhile. I would argue that he’s a footnote to the bombings. At the same time, there have been countless movies about nuclear war in the past 75 years, all of which are more interesting than a Christopher Nolan movie.
