Totally cultural. I’m in Germany, and the prevalent attitude here is “fuck off, don’t bother me. It’s my lunch break.” My supervisors not answer the phone. No one’s job is so important that someone else can’t do it, or that it can't wait 30 mins.

Yes, I definitely think it’s more the (perceived) fact of being a non-traditionally attractive woman who believes herself to be undesirable that results in the exoskeleton rather than the career. My job is pretty damn far from comedy/acting/performance of any kind and, lemme tell you, I’m the funniest, most

Just listened to a podcast of him - he is a great person AND he wrote for King of the Hill, one of the greatest shows ever broadcasted.

Having people of color in a show can really ruin the experience though. Personally, I get frightened when they come on screen and have to cross the street. But then im not even in my house anymore and so I miss important exposition and stuff.

But for real, Bobby... that was perfect. The fact that there is nary a proper noun in this article is just.... excellent. I salute you!

More importantly: HOW are they selling tickets if they are not paying winners?

You are right. She was in no way ‘freakish’ but a film would make her so. The cartoons created of her by racist white males were the distortion; the freakshow of the contents of their own heads.

Yo, I wasn’t even poor when I hit up PP for my IUD, just medically disenfranchised by my shithead OB/GYN who first counselled me against the IUD because I was a newlywed and it would “annoy” her when I “inevitably came back a year later to have it removed,” then, when I insisted on having it, tried to get me to pony

I used to skateboard as a kid, I haven’t skateboarded since 18, so for 20 years now. Does that mean I’m still a skateboarder even if I can’t ride a board without breaking both my ankles?

Word. I was just thinking “why does the one on the left look soooooo old?”

They look older than the entire rest of the cast combined.

I feel like a lot of women, even very successful and 'together' ones, fall into the trap of thinking that they will be able to 'change' someone, or genuinely believe the red-flagy types when they say 'all my exs were just crazy.' I have several pretty, smart, successful friends/family that have fallen for that-

Not to be all “Leaning In” or anything but...thoughtful partner selection is actually really important and helpful

I hear the best way to win a legal custody battle is to bitch about it on twitter...

I don’t know that Avery is guilty or not guilty. But I really can’t fathom how the jury delivered the guilty verdict. Soooooo much reasonable doubt in every piece of this case. Plus, some of the judge’s decisions certainly made the trial seem like he believed Avery was guilty and needed to be proved innocent. Dassey

I haven’t seen it either, but my blood pressure has put in a request for me to avoid it.

On a lighter note, the subreddit for this series has devolved into pictures like this over the last few days. Hopefully they’re not the only positive thing to come out of the series:

I didn’t necessarily think the doco was about his innocence so much as it was about the systemic corruption of the criminal justice system — it was about him in this case but it’s becoming clear that similar abuses take place in different jurisdictions every day.

I’m not sure that Steven is necessarily innocent, but I am sure that Brendan is. And I will never understand how they convicted Steven because that case was screaming with reasonable doubt. The fucking prosecutor even mentioned in his closing something about “so what if someone planted the key?” Jesus fucking Christ.
