I remember being stunned when they announced the power figures for this engine. At the time, the 4.3L was making something like 190 bhp. To go from that to 270 was amazing.

I recall a few of these engines having trouble with cracked exhaust manifolds (a cast iron piece) as well.

Who in their right mind would bother to swap in a 455 and keep the a/c compressor? Also, it looks like this car comes with an air injection pump, something that wouldn’t be found on a ‘72 engine. I’d want better pics of the engine to look at.

NP, partially because these were popular when I came of age and I wanted one (but couldn’t afford it). Also, in ‘89, a 130 bhp V-6 was a comparatively potent powerplant (considering the previous years saw 305 and 307 V-8s from GM making a whopping 150-180 bhp).

Replacing the power steering line/cooler on an ‘07 Chevy Malibu.
