It looks a lot better in person. I don’t know what kind of camera was used for these pictures, but the coloring is “off” and the red leather here appears almost purple-ish.

I guess it’s a matter of preference. I always hated the khaki-colored headliner of most cars, so having a black headliner was a selling point for me. 

I think the interior of the Acura helps it stand out AGAINST other SUVs on the market, considering almost every new vehicle has the same minimalist dashboard layout of two horizontal vents with an iPad tacked on top.

I have a 2021 RDX, and I agree that it’s not as bad as reviewers make it seem. Most of the functions that I use (skipping songs, changing radio presets) are done through the steering wheel controls anyway.

There will always be “car people”, although it might become more of a niche interest as time marches on.

Whenever people complain about newer cars with piano black trim on the interior, I like to remind them that it replaced that cheap fake plastic woodgrain trim that was on the top-tier trim of every car for about 20 years. I’m thankful for “piano black” for finally killing off the plastic wood look.

Luckily, Ford’s build quality of today is much better than it was in the 2000s. Imagine if they brought back the Bronco and gave the interior the same treatment they gave the 2005 Mustang or the “retro” Thunderbird.

You showed a picture of the more conservatively-style previous-generation Tucson, not the more radical redesigned Tucson featured in this article.

I like it. My gripe with the Tucson is the three different colors/materials on the sides, but I like what Hyundai is doing to make the lighting unique on their cars now.

Say what you want about the design of the new Tucson, but at LEAST this one stands out. The outgoing Tucson was the poster child for anonymity.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I much prefer maximalist interiors to these clean, barren, minimalist designs inspired by Tesla. It feels like I’m driving inside an Apple store.

My parents still have their blue Avalanche that was purchased new in 2002. It was very cool as a kid and it’s a pretty powerful machine. They rarely drive it anymore because it eats gas, but it still comes in handy when they need to haul or tow stuff.

Pff full service gas is one of the things I miss the most about living in Jersey. I’d much prefer to sit in my car and not have to touch those dirty pumps. The one thing about it I don’t miss is the gas attendants aggressively asking me to open my fuel door not .5 seconds after shutting off my engine.

Toms River, New Jersey is home to a rare (for good reason) at-grade cloverleaf interchange. If drivers want to make a U-turn, they have to sit at a total of 3 light cycles (often more, considering how bad the traffic always is on that road).

Maybe somebody brought in their old Dodge Stratus or Sebring to the dealership for repairs, realized that the repairs were worth more than the car itself, so they got roped into buying the cheapest possible new vehicle on the lot.

I don’t know if I’d call the Rav4 “boring” as much as I’d call it “common”. The current Rav4 is a very radical design and probably only seems bland because it’s the car of choice for people who don’t care about cars.
