How about never mind that you can’t own a fucking person?! The treatment at the hands of owners is completely beyond the point - a “good owner” is still OWNING PEOPLE.

In 2011, good ‘ol Michele Bachmann (remember when we thought she was the craziest Republican?) signed a pledge issued by the Christian conservative group The Family Leader called “A Declaration of Dependence on Marriage and Family” that read, in part:

I think that’s just the same kind of sophistry that people use when they claim that the Confederate states were just fighting for states’ rights while trying not to mention that the specific state right they wanted to protect was the right to own slaves.

I think you are a little idealistic about the levels of racist shitbags voting for trump. I would be zero percent surprised.

and here is what those same voters said about whites being superior and whether or not the south had won the civil war, so yeah, they are racist fucktards and need no defending

here’s what those same voters answered about other questions: from the NYT: The P.P.P. poll asked voters if they thought whites were a superior race. Most Republican primary voters in South Carolina — 78 percent — disagreed with this idea (10 percent agreed and 11 percent weren’t sure). But among Mr. Trump’s

they understood. these are the same voters who said whites were superior and they wished the south had won the civil war. from the NYT: The P.P.P. poll asked voters if they thought whites were a superior race. was it this poll or the other one given to the same voters that asked if they thought whites were superior? bc a good percentage of trump voters said yes to that one, too. so i am gonna go ahead and believe that yes, they mean that they didn’t want the slaves freed when they were freed. that is all we need to know and

no decent human says they disagree with freeing slaves under any conditions. full stop.

I.....we.....executive....orders?

Trump supporters didn’t even know what an executive action was until a few months ago (if they even know now), and are only against it because of the person currently issuing them (Obama is at like 225ish, Bush Jr. has 291, and Clinton had 364). If/When the next Republican President is elected, they will not have a

  • 65% of Trump voters believe black people simply did not exist “in the good old days” of medieval Europe, and that PC people invented them sometime after the 1700s.

Since the whole issue of Obama using executive orders is code for the uppity black guy acting like a white president, it would change nothing. These are all code words anyways.

I think we need to be realistic. Trump’s supporters aren’t examining the finer details of executive order vs. anything else to free the slaves. Let’s keep in mind that a good chunk of those voting for him still support waving the Confederate flag in 2016 - and the Confederacy’s ‘cornerstone’ was about NEVER freeing

And yet YOU are assuming it was about executive orders rather than the freeing of human slaves. Sorry but I don’t buy it. I think that is just you trying to be open-minded. I think you forget how stupid and racist Trump supporters are.

In my opinion there’s no nuance. To me it is like people who say that the civil war was about state’s rights versus slavery. Because it sounds terrible to support the confederacy if they were about slavery. But state’s rights? Sounds much less horrifying. Sometimes you have an opinion so heinous that your opinion must

I mean, this is all pretty gross, but from the way I read it, the Trump voters were protesting the fact that Lincoln used an executive order to free the slaves, not the fact that the slaves were ultimately freed.

Thank you. The answer to just about any question regarding freeing slaves should be, “yes, do it!”

Would you approve or disapprove of an executive order by the president to ban all abortions except in the case of the life of the mother?

There are, sadly, people who don’t think slavery was all that bad. They buy the idea that the slaves were like their children or something and generally treated well. Never mind the fact that female slaves were raped and many slave holders had no compunction about breaking up families.
