Never personally met anyone who wanted it to get dark earlier in the winter. 4pm darkness in the northeast is pretty brutal. Everyone hibernates. I moved to SC from New England and our sunset in is almost an hour later at the shortest day and it makes a huge difference, much much better. Keep DST all year!!

They supported keeping DST and not switching to standard time, like we just did.  Light out later is the way to go.
