Why not just take a dragon, fly over the army of the dead at safe distance, tell Dany: "Look there they are!", fly home and come back with a fucking plan?

Am I the only one who found the coincidence in which Tobias knew exactly when and where Linda would be crossing the road - despite having run through the forest in panic - completely ridiculous? Basically ruined the whole episode for me.
