Now if only there were these discs of movies and TV shows readily available at stores packed with great extras….

I do hope they touch on this whole federal government not respecting the President thing. It actually reminded me of the short-lived Geena Davis show Commander in Chief where the White House press secretary bad-mouths her to the press. When her Chief of Staff yells at him going after the President, the guy intones

On the plus side, young Shawnee Smith….

The late '80s were a weird time for leading men in Hollywood….

Hell, even his later stuff is good like Alive.

Everything Louder Than Everything Else is such an underrated piece of rock and roll glory.

I love The Departed as much as anyone but still amazing that was the movie Scorsese finally won the Oscar for. I mean, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Aviator and that's the one they pick?

True, just so cool and stylish, Pitt and Clooney are a great pairing and top-rate supporting cast (even Don Cheadle's nutty accent) to make it all work.

How about A Fistful of Dollars, a remake of Yojimbo? A toughie but Clint did do great in the role and moving it to the Old West just makes perfect sense.

Another recent Disney reboot: Cinderella. The live-action version lacked the music but did give the heroine more grit, Helena Bonham Carter great as the Fairy Godmother, Cate Blanchett fantastic as the stepmother and still got the magic and empowerment tales right.

How about Scarface? Yeah, the '83 movie has dated but still impressive with the violence and fantastic work by Pacino as well as showing the whole "dark American dream" turned into a wild ride.

The Thomas Crown remake does boast an element that made a remake much better: Rene Russo naked.

Did love that great speech. "Where you gonna go? Where you gonna run? Where you gonna hide? Nowhere. Because there's no one like you left." Scary.

The Blob. I'm dead serious, the 1950s movie is cheesy fun but the '88 remake truly is scary in how this monstrous creature grows, eating anything in its path. The shots of decomposing bodies inside are freaky and it shows the all-out destruction of the town. That shot where you see a theater audience suddenly empty,

Is ironic, her only nomination and win when she's done much better stuff like We Need To Talk About Kevin that was ignored.

Say what you will about Stallone, he totally nailed this role and got you going.

Tilda Swinton. Even in bad films like Constantine and others, she is amazing, can make any role fantastic and elevate the entire film just being on screen. It helps that she's smart to pick mostly good films but even a bad one is better by her presence.

The line must be drawn HERE! This far! No farther. And I will make them pay for what they've done!" (I love the relish with which these lines are delivered.)

To his credit, Shatner fully admits how badly it was botched. Even did a bit in EW about "sorry about that."

They just put out "The 50 Year Journey," two books on the whole franchise. First covers the Original Series and movies, the second from TNG to "Nu Trek." Excellent talk from those involved, sharing storylines, plots that were concieved and dropped and so much more, great insight.
