That is one spicy Swedish meatball.

The D & D alignments are a nice touch.

Rossi rode like a man possessed, it was fun to watch. Some solid laps from Pedrosa towards the end too.

PSH, as if. My mixtape was dope as hell, my mom even said so.

I’ve been trying to track down a copy/theater showing in the States, to no avail. Should I start looking for torrents? I’ve heard all sorts of good things about it.

At least you’re still around to talk about it!

Aaaand now I want a SxS. One of my buddies went to a couple of press events for Polaris (he works for the company that supplies their stereos) and he said they’re super rad. This video though...damn.

Holy shit

I’ve been relatively lucky in that my worst day was getting stranded in the middle of nowhere Illinois because of a bad ground wire for my battery. I was on my ‘75 XS650 that I built from the ground up. It was plainly obvious that it was the first bike I built it myself because of this particular breakdown (the second

The Kenny Roberts stinger is a nice touch. That’s a great looking bike. Roland is kind of funny to me because I love all of his custom bikes but his parts can veer a little too far into the northwest Indiana Monster Energy Bro-dozer aesthetic for me.

I strongly dislike Lorenzo, but this is a great ad...

The fake fins and carbs drive me up a wall. I get that it’s meant to be retro bike and all but including vestigial details like that just for the feels makes my industrial designer spider sense go haywire.

The dual suspension tubes on that trike remind me of Kaneda’s bike from Akira.

I was torn about the Sepang Clash but after watching the replay a few times it seems pretty clear that Marquez was faster than Rossi. If he had wanted to pass him, he would have done it. It’s a shame because I like both of them, but for now I hope Rossi has the race of his life in Valencia.

Motorcycles are fun, and everyone should just chill out and respect every one else’s opinions so long as people are enjoying themselves?

This is the Internet good sir, there’s no room for that kind of talk. Please see yourself out.

Those are all salient points and I’d certainly agree with you that the Bonnie and Thruxton aren’t true performance models. The crux of my argument is that the Bonnie’s greatest strength was its ability to trade on nostalgia, but an R version becomes a way to charge a premium for superficial performance specifically

Exactly. Bonneville R = more expensive, slower Street Triple. You can make the case for the Bonneville being an awesome all around bike and subjectively very handsome, but it sure ain’t fast. The R version is an excuse to charge a premium for the appearance of speed.

If speed is the primary deciding factor and you want

For sure, the Speed/Street Triple are definitely closer competition. The only reason I bring up the Monster in this context is the offering of a performance version. Performance is a fairly objective measure of a bike and by rolling out an R version of the Bonneville you invite comparisons to other high performance

That’s very true, and I’ll cop to some nit-picking here. I totally get if someone really wants a Bonneville and can spare the coin for the extra spicy version instead of original recipe, but where the Bonneville succeeded so well is its subjective ability to tug at the heart strings with a vintage look. Once you

No debate on that point, but it seems silly to me to shell out the extra money for one of the hot rodded versions when you look at the competition: BMW R nineT (prettier, more unique) and Monster R (faster, Italian). And those two are what the Bonnie R claims to be its best qualities, so out of the gate the only bike
