just to throw it in here, the film adaptation of Thompson's "After Dark, My Sweet" is perhaps the best american noir film around. Not neo-noir, despite it's release date. Best noir.
apparently you have not read or seen Sunset Limited, or his other scripts. The talk is blah blah college-level philosophizing. He's a different beast in his novels.
amen. the screenplay, which I've read twice, is awful. Almost, but not quite, entertainingly awful.
