XI does, just no voice acting. That's why there are hardcore FFXI and FFXIV: ARR fans, the storylines and atmosphere (not to mention soundtracks) are incredible

Not the case with FFXIV (nor XI either), at all. Armor is conventional, you'd be surprised. Stylistically, this game is completely unmatched. Armor sets make sense and look like works of art (eh when you're a higher level than Fahey)

My guess is (and it has been this way for the past couple of years) the japanese numbers just dwindle and honestly become less and less important. There's probably way more players trying to get in on NA servers than the JP servers
