Shocking Mr. Hoffman is involved with many of the films that makes this current generation shittier than most.

Mostly hung out at BBQ's this weekend so not a lot of media. But I did write a couple of articles on the BEST and WORST of films this year at the midway point. You can see them below:

If you would have told me PTA's next film was about a wooden puppet I'd call you crazy. But hey, the man hasn't made a stinker in a super long time. Whatever his next project is I'll give it a shot.

I love that this man, who is almost as old as my father, is still a stockboy. The man couldn't have gotten a promotion in 20+ years?

Something like this makes me feel so old.

I like the diversity and different teams we're getting here. But I'm not really rushing to buy the majority of them if I'm honest. Not a huge fan of the writers/artists put into many of the books. Of course if I hear anything good I'll jump on trades.

Cole survived a ridiculous stab in the stomach. Like, Pyramid Head level stabbing from SILENT HILL.

At least Cole would get out of those spiels once in a while and act like a normal detective.

Does Nic Pizzolatto know how human beings talk? Or how they interact with other human beings?

Friday: Saw the HBO Film NIGHTINGALE. It starred David Oyelowo and it is basically a one man play about someone going insane. Well actually he is already insane because he does something terrible in the beginning; and he is basically a stalker as well. It has some pacing issues in the third act but for the most part

My problem with this episode is that it just isn't funny. I'm fine with this series changing things up and in a natural way. (Unlike say that one episode where they had to forcefully add a 90s, grunge flashback episode into Marge & Homer's backstory.) But when I see this episode today nothing about it makes me laugh.

Secret Warriors is early Marvel Hickman where I'm sure it is a good book but I had no interest with the cast he developed. And I'm a huge fan of Hickman…just couldn't get into it.

With this and the recent issues with his Western films it begs the question:

This episode made me kinda wish I was born in a time where I could experience the 1970s/early 1980s NYC. Cause seeing so much pop culture references to this time period it fascinates me how different New York was at the time. I don't know if I wanna be mugged but if Woody Allen dumped trash on me I would be cool with

I'm interested to see if Hanks can carry an Eastwood film. Clint's movies have been pretty shitty lately so having such a top notch actor on board should help.

Probably a controversial choice but I would say the movie CASINO.

This could wind up being the best cast in a superhero movie ever. (Right now I'd say The Dark Knight is tops on that.) I wanna see any movie with Cumberbatch, Swinton, or Eijofor in it regardless if it's a superhero movie or not.

Charlie Day in ANYTHING is a good thing.

I'm not really a fan of his. He LOOKS like the Punisher though…Eh, wait and see I guess.

I like the idea of different animators/companies taking a crack at the Stooges.
