They had me at "hunky like an underwear model."

I thought George started off as one of the more interesting interns, in part because the writers gave his character good side-stories that didn't depend on love triangles, unrequited romance, sexual mistakes and the usual Grey's tropes. But eventually the writers seemed to run out of ideas for him.

Wait, are you suggesting that Izzie behaved inappropriately?????

It still strikes me as odd and depressing that in 13 seasons a show that has been praised for diversity has never had a regular character who identifies as a gay male.

"Spaced" was wonderful. I love Pegg also — he even made the uneven but sweet rom-com "Man Up" worth watching, to say nothing of genuinely terrific films he's been in. But this — ugh, like I said, waste of talent.

This was one of the worst films I saw two years ago. It's an astonishing waste of talent, maybe only worth looking to see how frequently brilliant performers can get things so wrong. Simon Pegg manages not to embarrass himself too badly, but doesn't manage to be likable enough to save it. Only Joanna Lumley was what

We created this monster. Where have you gone, Edward Scissorhands?

With all due respect to the excellent article — and with the caveat that I'm always happy for anyone to publish a thoughtful and entertaining piece about this show — there simply is no "very special episode" of Party Down. All 20 episodes are amazing.

Absolutely. And this episode gave Jane Lynch more to do than she usually got, which I welcome.

Yes, and the way she mumbled some stuff to Ryan Hansen, but leaned into the mic so we could all hear her say "Holocaust" was a great bit of comic timing.

I was thinking of actors who, in many cases among commenters at A.V. Club, are widely perceived to have been cast more for the square jaws and ripped abs than their acting ability or the number of years they spent studying Shakespeare. These would be actors like Brett Dalton (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D), Dylan Bruce

I think the point she was trying to make — as you summed it up, "casting calls for men aren't actually like this and it would be ridiculous if they were" — is not the only way of looking at it. I guess what I'm wondering is how different is the reality of casting for men and women? Are men who are not perceived to

Like…what?

I've never watched "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and am unlikely to start, but if those were the real descriptions of the male stars, I'd certainly give it a look if only for the eye candy.

So this is better than the usual RLJ Entertainment fare? Movies they release have been hit or miss, which obviously is true of all distribution companies at all budget levels, but with them there seem to be more misses on balance. Anymore, I'm usually wary of even bothering to sample their wares unless the subject or

Excellent observation! I'll add the much more pedestrian note that the main reason I paid attention to David A. Prior's films was because I thought Ted Prior was incredibly hot and hunky. Deadly Prey shows him off in a way that is almost unsettling, when you realize that the director is admiringly panning toe-to-head

Probably the worst season one episode of The X-Files was inspired by the Jersey Devil.

I don't find her voice annoying, but I do get irritated at the snide, snarky mannerism she sometimes lapses into and really put off by her horribly demeaning and belittling impressions.

I was 11 when The Exorcist became such a sensation and I waged a campaign like no other to get my parents to take me to see it. Head-spinning! I so wanted to be there! I think it was working well, my dad was starting to give in. Then … no dice. I suspect that he talked to someone who had seen the movie and found out

Kick Ass Oregon History podcast is a solid (but not scholarly), quirky and usually engaging look at its subject. The most recent episode was an interview with a retired cop/detective who talked about policing Portland vice in the 1970s, when "policing Portland vice" meant rousting some queers, harassing
