One thing I have yet to see from anyone criticizing Valve’s recent statement is a concrete alternative. The standard critique always seems to boil down to, “Read my mind about what should and should not be allowed on Steam, and then make that the universal acceptance policy.” Yeah, that sounds totally workable, bud.

While annoying, something to keep in mind is that while the prices of games have been stagnant for over a decade and show no sign of increasing (if game prices rose with inflation new games would cost $76.08) the cost of development has skyrocketed during that same time period. As such developers and publishers need

I’m pretty sure this didn’t “make it to air”. It was a cut dress rehearsal sketch first released on Ferrell’s Best of Vol. 1.

I don’t mean to be rude, but in the time it took you to write this comment, you could’ve read the whole article.

just a s areminder, “games as a service” was always a bad deal. if there are online components, then we should have always demanded that those things remain accessible to any legal purchaser into perpetuity. we buy but do not own, and that is garbage. If you cannot automate and absorb the costs of maintaining a game

Listen to this man! It will be much more worth it!

Wait are they just overwatch credit? I thought it was like Battle.net balance. Just save it for a new game or expansion later. Screw MTX crap and their overwhelming focus in gaming for timed events that pressure users to buy more instead of new maps, modes etc.

We’ll scrub you from ALL the media, Mr. Fingal!

1 gigabit = .13 gigbytes.

Did I miss it, or is there no link to the game the article is written about?

Agree completely! It is pretty close to perfection.

They filtered the backgrounds already and “improved” them about as much as is possible. It’s static, pre-rendered art, so they can’t easily improve it without recreating it all from scratch, which would be enormously expensive.

My only complaint (which I addressed in their survey) is that it needs a text speed adjustment setting. It somehow moves slower than the voice-overs and I have to hit a button to skip forward every time.

Agreed. Axiom Verge scratches the itch as well.

If you’ve never tried Axiom Verge, I highly recommend it. It’s not a perfect metroid side scrolling experience, but it has a lot of it down.

Seconded. One of the few games I’ve paid full price for on Steam, and one of the few games I’ve stayed up until 4 in the morning playing the night that I bought it.

Cards Against Humanity - the game that’s funny once, and then you can toss it in the garbage.

I’m trying to find where the “ass” is in that trailer. This is what our expectations have become?

Why would you spoil this with an image, it just came yesterday!? Thank goodness I already played it because that was one of the most pleasant surprises. I know you guys need sensationalism but did you have to use that image?
