Ehhh, I’m not watching the series because fsck Viamount and CBS, but the idea that Starfleet wouldn’t give up on revolutionary tech isn’t quite right. Remember the Pegasis, they weren’t just working on cloaking but phasing tech. That’s basically an “I win” button in any war situation.

Being a prequel isn’t the biggest problem (although it’s in the top 3). I see the biggest problem lying with the sickeningly cavalier attitude the showrunners and writers are taking with established canon.
