There are a few ways that you can kind of tell where you have been. One is that the detail fills in as you walk around an area, especially the zoomed-in things like names of places. Another is that Korok seeds and pins you drop leave signs of where you have explored.

That’s how I see it. Never got the point of collecting all that crap in games, epecially when the prize is a weapon that I will never use because I’ve done everything in the game at that point.

Not essential but very useful if you can rack up even 50 - 100 to increase your weapon slot count a bit.

The Official Timeline actually doesn’t make sense. Supposedly the reason all these women named Zelda exist is because of the tragedy of Zelda which has a BIG part of the story of Zelda II. However, apparently that is one of the last things that happened and only in one of three timeline branches.
