It was pretty fawning: http://www.vanityfair.com/h…. I enjoyed it though, if only for the season two insight and book recommendations.

R.I.P. "The Bridge." I need more Demian Bichir in my life.
What you said makes sense. The weird thing about Pizzolatto is that he has an ego while also remaining a huge nihilist who at times can be pretty self-deprecating. We may have had this conversation before, but in the Vanity Fair interview he alluded to a horrifying childhood tragedy that he didn't want to elaborate…
I'd be curious to know what specific thing it was that initiated this conflict. I mean, Nic is the main writer of the show and would understandably demand the lion's share of creative control. However, Fukunaga elevated season one with his work behind the camera—and has an Emmy to show for it. And doing that probably…
Gibson AND Quaid? Damn, you're not messing around! Get David O. Russell there too, and Jai ain't coming back anytime soon.
I really wish I could find a clip of Comedy Bang Bang's "Maybe It's Just Me, But For Me" segment right now. "Maybe it's just me, but for me, if you're talking about the greatest rock bands of the 20th century, you just have to include The Beatles."
"Get me her details."
Whoa, whoa, whoa…the next season is gonna have Ian McShane? I might actually have to start watching now.
That's a great question. "House of Lies" is definitely up there. In terms of recent stuff, I'd have to say "Gracepoint." David Tennant, Anna Gunn, Jacki Weaver, Nick Nolte, Michael Peña. It takes a lot to fuck up with that cast.
"If your melodramatic nihilism lasts longer than four hours, contact your doctor immediately."
They haven't done a perfect job in beginning to join the separate plot lines together. However, there was a lot more connectivity between the Ani and Ray stories, and Frank's sexual frustrations have some thematic links to other characters. Plus, Paul's "accidental" bumping into Frank was pretty cool.
For either one, you're gonna need a prescription.
Wow, I actually didn't know that. Could definitely see him capping the series off earlier rather than later. And I certainly hope he doesn't try to imitate "Inherent Vice."
"Sometimes your worst dialogue…is your best dialogue."
He's got Tommy Hearns levels of reach right there.
I had the same reaction when I saw her in "Nightcrawler." Couldn't contain myself. "Holy shit, that's Mrs. Barksdale!"
I do know that the producers hired porn stars to act in the orgy scene. So even without McAdams, it's certainly going to be something.
I knew it! He's Mr. Garrison!
Some of the dialogue still comes off as clunky (that Frank quote about having a gun to his head as he's taking a shit and the "half anaconda, half great white" ones being the most notable in this episode). However, the separate story lines are starting to come together, and the mystery behind the killing is turning…
If you're the type of TV fans who need a perfect mix of dark story elements and levity, then you may be disappointed. Most of the time it leans more to the former. It is a dark and brooding show this season, even compared to last season's proceedings. However, if you can get past some of the overly-serious melodrama,…
