Oh I was there too but am surprised to see that WAREZ is actually in dictionaries. Regardless, my points about MAMMY, FABBY, etc stand.

Yeah I have been binging this a little bit since posting and my issue is that you can basically railroad the algo into giving you words that take similar form (e.g. ending in Y) every time. Also this dictionary is questionable at best. Is WAREZ really an actual word? MAMMY? FABBY? These all counted as words but really

Wow okay. This is a pretty fun take on it. We’ll see if it gets old, but I can already think of some initial strategies based around shrinking the word pool ASAP.

You might expect that, as Wordle becomes more and more popular, the creator might plan on monetizing his hit. But in a recent interview Wardle said he has no such plans.

The older I get, the fewer games I finish. I still optimistically buy lots, but with less time and more responsibilities, it’s just increasingly harder to care about a game’s git gud difficulty or empty open world or 50+ hour main quest.

Thanks for the detail! Kind of sounds like (?) then that a trans woman had a bad take, but calling it out was seen as “Trumpian” because she was trans (as opposed to the quality of the critique)? Which if so, I’d agree is overblown. No one’s identity should insulate them from criticism or demand their critiques be

Oh that’s disappointing to hear. What do you consider the game’s central thesis? I recall liking it quite a bit but never really thought of it much beyond how the places you come from have their own ebb and flow, and are often at risk of being blotted out by corporate sterilization. It’s been a long while since I

I played Acts I - IV on PC and then finished (with a replay) on Switch for Act V. To be honest I’m a little partial to the PC version since there is such a retro feel to a lot of the UI, but the Switch version was perfectly acceptable. And getting to play it on my couch was a joy, so much so that I’m likely to replay

Kentucky Route Zero is one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in my entire life. It is not for everyone—and anyone put off by narrative-focused games will bounce hard off KRZ—but if you’re drawn in by the idea of magic realist Middle America presented with elements of stagecraft, you’re in for a treat.

Wish these lists would call out the systems the games are available for. Kind of annoying to have to keep checking only to find I can’t play a bunch of these.

Ouch. I went the last two weeks of Feb 2020. Feel very lucky to have gotten that trip in before everything went to hell.

If you think this was something, you should’ve seen what was going on in the 90s with anime on some cable stations (I forget the exact ones). The series weren’t as good as what came in the 2000s, but my god were they violent. I still remember watching Lily C.A.T. (basically a rip-off of The Thing) as a 10 or 11

I also saw it in college (in 2000/2001) via anime club or whatever as part of weekly showings, so I think it must’ve been note-worthy enough by then. I do remember reading that Bebop was less of a hit in Japan, where series aimed at kids/teens were dominating.

This. Had a mini-freakout when it turns out the cancer causing one ISN’T the one in the header pic. Christ, lifehacker, get it together.

Yep, which is how I’d categorize Austin Powers, Zoolander, and a number of other movies.

I’d argue that was kind of the point with Pootie Tang no? If a movie tries to be bad-good and succeeds, is it bad or is it actually just plain good?

Yeah, I am all for complaining about how this adaptation is coming along BUT that second comparison doesn’t fit what the article is going for. Sure, it looks different, but the stained glass is still pretty pop-y and overall the scene looks good (if derivative of the anime).

Or have a huge install base. I honestly picked it up for a few minutes and put it down again, since I’d just finished the PS4 Spider-Man and MM seemed like more of the same. I am not in the majority there though, I’m sure.

I still love the gameplay flow of Souls games, and the other souls-likes aren’t quite there to me. I wouldn’t mind a retailer at the boss door like you suggest. So you actually get to spend your souls, level up and come back stronger after you die. But then every death comes with empowerment, and I don’t necessarily

The missing piece is the profitability of GaaS though. For instance, isn’t Destiny rumored to be rather unprofitable despite its popularity? I have been reading worries that Activation spun off Bungie because it was too expensive to run and that that’s also why Bungie keeps removing content (which is wild but
