Sadly I don’t think Nintendo will pay much attention to what Valve does. Maybe if Big N had less of a Japanese culture to them, but as is I think it’s unlikely they’ll take Valve’s move seriously.

Yeah, I think this their way to try to combat bots would be my guess. Rather than a scalper having bots attempt to scoop up 10,000 pre-order spots in milliseconds, now that same scalper would have to pony up $50,000 to do that. This is one of those areas where individuals paying a token fee is negligible but a single

Thanks for the tip, though my issue is I no longer have a main rig—I have my laptop and that’s it. I’ve considered building a small PC for gaming/streaming but it’s more hassle than I’m willing to take on right now. I’d really just like something to do all the work for me (or a cloud streaming solution, which I may

Consider me interested. Design aside, I have wanted a way to access my Steam library and Steam games on my TV for some time, especially now that my laptop is old. The handheld aspect is less interesting to me, but we’ll see. Who knows if this thing will be even remotely available at launch, which means I should have

Voice of power, gotta be

I’ve seen a handful of these now and all I really want is a video that shows multiple angles. Of course the intended head-on angle is going to look the best (and does look pretty great here) but I’m curious if the illusion holds at all at 45 degrees, 90 degrees, etc.

here’s footage of a new rogue-like game with 8-bit graphics

That’s a fair take though I think you might want to see some reviews on the PS5 version first—who knows how much polishing they’ll do. That said, the PS4 version was very pretty and fun to play to begin with and if you don’t care about haptic, 4k, or the DLC, then you’re definitely better off buying it for $30 and

Sweeeeeeeeet, that’s very very good news. I wish Control did the same :(

“Forced labor” is such a quaint way to say slavery.

Is this Maaya Sakamoto as in the singer? I’m honestly surprised she’s only 41. I feel like I’ve been listening to her music for 20 years...

Between the headline and the article, what a roller coaster. Control was my favorite game of 2019, and I was so pleased that we finally got a single-player with a unique IP (well, depending on how much you feel they took from SCP). There were some rough difficulty patches in there, but they got patched up over time

Yes, not to mention that Sony does not have resorts, theme parks, and merchandising (not to mention movie-level releases) to keep the coffers filled.

Yep, it’s this simple. Products are priced to what the market will pay.

Not saying this is Valve specifically, but there’s something amusing/depressing about how companies don’t want you to take advantage of price differences in difference countries yet they rarely (if ever) hesitate to hire workers from countries with a lower cost of living. Rules for thee, not for me.

My favorite is when the grizzled veteran with a mysterious past full of loss is.... 26. Lol okay guys.

Yep yep, agreed. Nintendo is very backwards in their approach and seem to still be operating by some set of rules that they think still apply to the world when, in reality, the world has moved way way beyond.

Oh I agree. My original post is in no way defending Nintendo’s practices, more trying to understand the root cause of these symptoms. Totally agree that I wouldn’t be surprised if Head of Online is a 60-year-old dude who was hired during the DS days.
