He’s a fucking idiot. Like a complete moron. at least it illuminates how very base and horrible a lot of this shit really boils down to. There are stupid, tunnel-visioned young men serving in the military all over the world who think it’s all going to be excitement and blowing crap up and when it ends up being…
I may have done a little cheer when I heard the Mail Kimp ad return.
To me he just sounds like 98% of guys under 37.
She’s SO delighted to say “hey, yep, me chatting with the Taliban, NBD!” It was great and my favorite line to come out of Serial since “Mail Kimp.”
I think the cake was an example of a food that you enjoy once in a while that isn’t necessarily healthy. Obviously it’s not an indulgence for you if you hate it. Is there anything else you indulge in that fits that description? Because if there is, that would be your 'cake'.
If you’re not eating something because you don’t like it, then you’re absolutely not who she’s getting at in this article. Chill out, she wasn’t getting a dig at you.

The Super is not too far from the platonic ideal of a TAL episode, and I’m kind of mad I didn’t include it. I have a really vivid memory of driving around New Orleans choking with laughter as Jack Hitt describes the super’s seemingly made up stories, and then getting to work and getting really punched in the gut with…
No one makes money on record sale anymore anyway, go to your favorite artists shows. that’s how they make money these days.
I pay for the subscription - no ads, I can listen to anything in their catalogue whenever I want, and I can make playlists available offline. My iPod died and I worked in an environment that required music or something, or else I would kill my co-workers. I still buy music, but I do use Spotify a lot.
Yes to Margaret Atwood! Yes to graphic novels! Yes to staying in more!
I don’t know what you mean — Spotify lets you choose anything you want to stream, and assemble your playlists any way you like. I have fifteen or twenty, all about four hours long, that I cycle through periodically, some themed and some just collections of things I found skipping around Spotify that I love.
I have a Spotify subscription and I find it worth the $10/month. No ads and tons of music to choose from.
I do both. I don’t think it has to be one way or the other. I use Spotify to find artists that I like, and when I really like something I pay for it on iTunes to support the artist. I also go to a lot of concerts, which is where bands make most of their money.
I like to remember him like this:
People really resent him from not being the teenager he was 30+ years ago, don’t they. He’s 52. He doesn’t even look bad for 52.
People who have also worked hard and created something to be proud of. Foo Fighters are not the end all be all of the rock genre.
Very good analysis. I love that fact that you barely see Kilgrave for the first half of the series, yet his presence looms larger and larger in each episode, like he is spreading virus.
