India must now insource 250 jobs stat!

@angstman: Once is enough. But it would need a deeper story like: "Julian Assange saved hundreds of lives today overting a terrorist plot to jam in—flight broadcasts of Sleepless in Seattle. Mr. Assange was able to use his uncanny ability to fart on a plane causing the terrorists to fall to ground gasping for air.

I'll also throw in my vote for my wristwatch. I know the "why? I have a cell phone" crowd (aka. whippersnappers) would resort to guessing the time before they put one on, but for me it's every bit as essential as my phone, keys, wallet, and glasses.

Sort of a mis-characterization of Alton's comments. If you read the post you'll see that he doesn't really consider any of the items he endorses to be uni-taskers (not even the rice maker or mellon baller).

Does the uncanny valley still apply if it's an actual human being?

@Arken: "...as stop motion has always been a game for the patient as much as the rich."

@ThursdayNext: Heh heh. Well done. First grin of the morning.

@2matrix: I disagree. Anything about Wikileaks should always be posted. Wikileaks is technology. It's a website on the internet run on computers. I recommend if you don't like an article... move along to the next.

"... I don't think we can complain about that point too much."

Wheels cost anywhere from $15 to $40 (or more.. or less). Having 14 of these plus buying bearings for them all will cost you. Wheels get bad pretty quick too if you really skate. Not to mention it looks funny. I don't see any real skaters using this ever except as a joke.

That and sodium flouride.

@malaklaze: See also: Masters of the Universe :) She was really working hard for nerd cred back in the day.

@silkworm: It was Misfits of Science.

No one else a Larry Niven fan? He wrote in the '70s that the best way to predict a galactic catastrophe would be to look for advanced civilizations moving their star systems away from danger.

Most people would agree that 90% of my posts are mad. Plus I love/hate technology and understand it very well but I'm not in NYC.

@dfp3050: That's what I was going for. Glad someone got the joke. :)

Is this BP's new car?

I love how he just knocks over some chemical then turns out the lights. And then after he turns on the lights again he quickly picks it back up. Very talented chemist indeed.
