That’s completely fair. The developer (who’s expertise is data science) in me feels like I need to actually spend some time on this like you have. It’s the only way I can reasonably refute you/Bowlen/Cam. I’m going to spend some of my free time going over the data-sets because I’m generally interested now. I won’t…
Hahaha mayyybe? Is that how helmets work? Take one shot to the chest and the helmet goes flying off? If that were the case, helmets would fly off dozens of times during a game.
You’re 100% on that new rule (Which you already know haha). Sorry for my misunderstanding. I just looked up the 2015 rules to verify my mistake.
And this is where your argument is falling flat. This isn’t a rule change. It’s a point of emphasis. The hit on Brady was just as illegal last year as it is this year. The refs are now just paying more attention to it.
OK changing gears then to a similar hit than the one Cam took above that started his rant. I would argue this low blow from Suh was worse than the one Cam took. Suh wasn’t flagged. If Brady gets soooooo many more calls than Cam, clearly this low blow from one of the dirtiest players in the league would have been…
The problem I have is Bowlen is cherry picking his plays to emphasize his point. Where was this comparison with Brady? I would argue this low bow from Suh was a worse shot than the hit Newton took. Suh wasn’t flagged for it.
Newton isn’t specifically complaining about hits in the pocket. He’s complaining about all the no-calls he gets. This latest one just happens to be a pocket no-call.
It was helmet to helmet hence why his helmet went flying off.
So the lunging going high is cool? The helmet to helmet is cool?
Show me a worse hit that Newton has taken.
Exactly. His style of play is still the same style of play that makes him more vulnerable to taking bad hits. If he doesn’t want to try and switch it up, power to him. His body won’t be able to take it forever.
And Pollard was never flagged or fined for the hit on Brady. It was that hit though that spawned the rule that Newton is specifically complaining about not getting called.
When Tom Brady started his career, hits like this to the QB were the norm.
The Pats used Revis to cover the opponent’s top guy pleeeeenty of times. The Bengals game comes to mind where he mostly lined up across from Green. The Pats also had a big physical corner with Browner so throwing him on the top guy with safety help made sense for them as well. It’s really not fair to compare the two…
I think this has less to do with the Cubs’ bats and more to do with Cleveland’s pitchers. They are just good. They made short work of Boston (most runs this season) and the Jays (homer machines). The Cubs are just next on the list.
Hopefully you don’t drive a vehicle while you’re fucked up on drugs. If you do and you wind up in an accident one day, hopefully you’re the only one involved in the accident.
Great point! And I wasn’t trying to directly compare the two QBs. I’m a Pat’s homer (I’m Canadian though and love all things NFL, so don’t hold my favourite team against me haha) so using the Pat’s QB as an example is the easiest for me.
Ummmm the Spurs were right up there with the Warriors last season. All that happened was the 2nd best team beat the best team. You make it sound like there was some huge upset.
Dude, Tom Brady is 39 and playing some of the best ball of his career. It’s not crazy to think 28 year old Stafford is still developing.
