I wouldn’t generalize it so harshly, having lived and visited many places from the deep south, to the midwest, to the northwest and Alaska. Though there is quite a lot of homophobia and racism in the South Eastern States, definitely more-so than the rest of the country. Mostly white v. Black or Black v. White racism.
