“Perhaps they’ll simply add some code that automatically puts the transmission in park when the driver’s door is open, and the vehicle speed is at or very near zero.”

Too much money for a Beetle!

Until they turn and tear shit up (that is, unless, they have the ability to raise/lowers the axles pneumatically while turning).

Um, they’ve already had a DCT in a sportbike - the VFR1200.

Regardless, I don’t think I’d go with a DCT just because I like shifting myself. But the technology has come a long way since it was introduced and I think it has the potential to add sales (read: people like my wife that can’t wrap their head around using

The adventure bike “thing” is just like the SUV “thing”: People buying SUV’s aren’t likely to go exploring or off-roading any further than the nearest mall/Starbucks. The same applies to most ADV bike owners. Only a select few will use them off road. It’s the versatility of the bike that I think gets people.

With that

How is the stock protection? I mean, there are a few people that will actually take a $18k+ enduro MC off road. Is the stock protection on part with a GSA? Better? Worse?

And is it worth the price (which I’m still having trouble finding) compared to the competitors?

It may be owned by Treynor, but looking at the plate I would say its his wife’s daily driver... “RACE WFE” as in Race Wife?

I believe Jalopnik’s Steve Lehto has said that this would be illegal (destruction of evidence)...but then again, I always thought illegal was a sick bird :)

4th Gear: The Autobahn Is Crumbling Too

The alcantara on those shifters are going to look like fuck after a few thousand miles...

I stand corrected. I thought per the video that the gear slipped because of the nut. My bad.

Yep, a nut on the cam lobe timing gear got loose. Makes me want to drop a spot weld on mine to make sure it doesn’t happen to ours.

Shawn has been pretty detailed during his entire ownership, that’s for sure!

I wasn’t aware they were testing this. As an ecodiesel owner, I can confirm that the truck does well not wise. My high was 30 and the low 21 with no towing with 3.55 gearing. When we tow our 7k travel trailer, we get 12-15mpg.

PSSSHHH A rolly polly bag is for suckers. I just attach the tools to my bike as decoration.

Stock-like Dunlop Elite II’s.

I envy him. I’m rain-shy after this happened to me:

Drop a potato while doing 70mph. See how much skin is left and the damage done to the potato. Now imagine that being on a person.
