I have mixed feelings about lane splitting in heavy traffic. Stop-and-go riding is exhausting, and if the rider keeps to a reasonable speed (e.g. traffic + 5 km/h) it’s not too bad.

I take it helmets aren’t mandatory in Florida?  I suppose ... well ... Florida, right?

The flip side is important too. Drivers need motorcyclists to be predictable in their actions.

Let’s put it this way: Back when they rolled out the Chevyota, I would have bought that over pretty much anything else in GM’s lineup. The early 80s was a disaster zone.

Dude: Nova is a brand, as is Chevrolet. They could have slapped the Nova name on a dozen other cars they’ve made over the years.

By the time the 80s rolled around, Chevrolet’s offerings were ... well ... more than a little sad. The Chevette hadn’t exactly aged well, and the first generation Cavalier wasn’t even remotely competitive with the rising competition from Japan.

VW at this time was grossly overpriced. I looked at the Golf back when this was on the market, and a base Golf cost as much or more than the Civic Si I ended up buying.

That doesn't mitigate jack shit for most drivers in a panic situation - especially not seniors who may become disoriented, and let off the wrong pedal.

    No. No. No.

Several things turned me off Ford:

Wow - usually the manual gearboxes are more robust than the automatics from that era.  I wouldn’t have expected that.

If it was the 4 speed OD, those were notorious for problems. I had a 93 Ranger with the 4.0L and 4 speed auto ... it started showing problems around 6 years of age.

After reading some of the garbage written by boomers slagging millennials, I don’t see why Millennials should have to respond with a cogent argument. That’s pretty much like asking the bullied person to write an essay on why their bully is wrong.  It gets the same response from me now as it got when I was in school:

These things are a danger on sidewalks. I’d rather see them restricted to bike lanes.

Neutral: Will Uber Be Around In 10 Years

How about FCA products with better build quality?  Is that too much to ask for?

In spite of all the general dislike people have for replicants of one sort or another, this one is reasonably well done. (I’d bin the projector headlights and replace with pop-ups myself - that’s my only real complaint with this particular instance)

Why is the CDC still telling people to stop vaping? Because people have DIED. This isn’t rocket science.

This hits the KISS button pretty hard. Simple, reliable, and well made.

Mergers involving Chrysler have tended to not go very well - often with the malaise of Chrysler working its way into the acquiring company’s corporate DNA.  I will remain cautious about this new entity.  It has possibilities, but it also has risks that shouldn’t be overlooked.
