I've always been of the opinion that Black Adder improved each season. Yes, the 3rd and 4th seasons do miss Miranda Richardson's regular presence, they but make it up with tighter scripts that allow for the interplay between the Edmund-Baldrick-George triad.

I've been using that line for years.
