You pay more taxes, you get more services. That’s how the world works. You pay more than three times as much as I do in taxes, and in return, the government gives some of that money back in the form of things like paid parental leave. Personally, as someone who’s not going to have any kids, I prefer paying less money.
I have coworkers who leave work early or don’t come in at all because they have to do something for their kids and they get upset when I give them the same treatment as someone who misses work from a hangover or leaves early to catch a movie. We all have lives. Yours isn’t suddenly more important than the rest of ours…
