Honestly, the size difference between the Escape and Edge is not that drastic. Further, the interior space between the Edge and the Explorer (not including rear cargo) is not, either (second row space is negligible, especially when you’re dealing with car seats).

That’s not the problem. The problem in my state, and listed above, of PA is the “wet-signature.” We negotiated the price of our last car 100% via text message and 2 phone calls, but still had to drive to the dealership for signature process and to take delivery.
