Wasn’t this car built by “lick my balls” Vlad? Pretty sure I saw it at an E30 M3 Sigfest in NJ a few years ago. On the surface, it looked pretty clean.
Exactly. Quite a leap of faith to assume ebay re-seller "pat.bmw" is missing a simple issue that's keeping it from running.
The engine needs a bit of TLC, as it lacks the spark to make the engine fire up, but the issue could be as simple as a sensor.
Not defending the car but another $50k won’t get you a Murcielago roadster.
I doubt you would ever fully retrieve the IP. “The CAD files?” *shrug* “Maybe on one of those laptops?”
That’s a really great tip. Thanks
I’m genuinely curious how you feel when you find yourself behind the guy passing that line of 20 cars going only 5mph faster. How about 1mph?
I often do, under the "that's what I wish people would do for me" rule. *shrug*
I always find a new way to screw up. A few months ago, I was pouring oil back into my wife’s cherry ‘91 318is when a piece from the seal on top of the gallon jug swirled down the funnel into the valve cover. Arrgghhh. I could just barely see it, taunting me. I ended up pulling the valve cover.
I can’t believe someone bid $61,900 on that yellow car. That’s insane. The missing bumper and components retail for $8500 ($9500 if it has front parking sensors). The fender, $7700. There’s a bit of frame structure missing up front that comes up, ominously, as “call for price”.
I’m not clear on one thing: Factory Five makes WAY more than 500 Cobra rep kits/year. Are they all counted as “manufactured”, or only the cars that they complete? If the former, Factory Five is not eligible under the bill.
It’s about 12hr in labor. It’s not particularly difficult but there are a lot of things to remove/replace. Undertray, bumper, exhaust, airbox, engine bay panels, upper subframe, etc. These are not pull-this-clip-and-the-whole-assembly-comes-out components but remove-umpteen-fasteners-and-twist-it-just-so things. Many,…
That’s exactly the kind of man-child stuff (OK, I never heard a specific threat of bodily harm - only general!) that had me swear off rec softball. I like to win, sure, but I didn’t really care.
I’m gonna go with Chevy for “has ability to hit deadlines that are not set randomly by CEO”. I love the Model S and all but Tesla has yet to show an ability to hit a date. They obviously have some great people doing great work but it’s also obvious they have serious organizational problems.
And 8000rpm is the output shaft speed. The rotors themselves spin at 1/3 that rate.
The dealer still has to get it home, clean it up, advertise it, etc. I’ll bet that few hundred gets eaten up quick.
First car: hand-me-down ‘84 in all it’s 92hp Iron Duke glory. I actually remember it fondly. I put 50k+ miles on it in less than 2 years w/o a hiccup. Towed my race bike with it. Slept in it on the road. It made it past 200k on the original motor/trans and was wrecked by a later owner before it actually died.
Every shop I deal with has torque sticks they use between the gun and the socket. They are not perfect but at least they prevent the 200 lb-ft horror shows.
Lowest priced 2010 458s with high miles, maybe. Asking prices for ‘13 458s are a $70-80k over ‘13 MP4-12Cs. I know someone who bought a ‘13 MP4-12C with 3000 miles for nearly $100k off original MSRP in January (arriving home just in time for it to sit snowbound for 2 months!).
