My friend lives close enough to hear the racing if conditions are right and was bugging me to go over but I didn't have time. Funny enough, some navs put people in his neighborhood when they're heading to Wall Stadium. He had some funny conversations with a lost group of stancers one day...
It sounds like you've worked out a coping mechanism but there are other jobs out there!
Oh boy, the finance industry. My neighbor supports internal IT products at a big bank. He has some stories from when he was more front line. There was a guy who had a really large equipment budget because he had a tendency to beat the shit out of stuff when things weren't going his way. Phones, fax machines,…
I'm guessing a number of them might have been navigator errors too.
:) I just went to their career page and looked at a developer position. One key job requirement bullet: "Experience in operating 24x7x365 customer focused environment."
Did you get an offer?
Assuming you don't mean you work at a retirement village, it's been a year or two but I spent some time working down there in a building built up in one of the immense hangars. Interesting place. Long drive from Staten Island!
FWIW, Car and Driver did 13.1@110 in an F1-equipped 360 back when they were new. Early F1 variants sucked so high 12s in a gated car *might* be possible if you're not paying the bills. OTOH, Ferrari has been accused more than once of sending ringers to evaluations so who knows?
The Mustang is a BIG car, at least on the outside. It's 10" longer and 2" wider than your 335d. You might wonder why your 335d is so heavy instead. :) It's actually bigger than an E39 BMW, if you can believe that.
Yes, I get all that. My first new/old "exotic" was a Lotus Esprit S4s 15 years ago. You're waving away all kinds of real risk that exists when you own an out of warranty exotic. I've come out ahead of the theoretical Cyaman on my 360 - so far - but when you buy one you have to be aware that a $25k "what was *that*…
The thing is, that Porsche depreciation is reasonably predictable. Ferrari maintenance? Not so much. My 2001 360 came with $26k worth of receipts over a 2 year period. And nothing major really went wrong with it! A bunch of deferred maintenance and some updates. And a 360 is a mass-market car. They continue to…
This is really no fun if you're going to be reasonable. You're supposed to spin off into ranting hysterics. :)
So what? That's their call, isn't it? I just dropped my MTB off to true a wheel. I could do it myself - I actually built the wheel - but sometimes I just don't feel like it so I pay someone. I value some time to spend with my daughter/wife/other projects/etc. more highly than whatever $$$ I pay the shop.
Guys - if your car is so loud that people are giving you shit for "speeding", you should drive it differently. I have headers, hi-flow cats, and a tubi muffler on my 360. It wakes the dead and they complain about the noise BUT my neighbors never complain because I gear up and keep my foot out of it. Being…
My daily driver for a while was a 2000 Jaguar XJR. 370 tire ruining HP purchased in 2010 for $6500 from a local used car place that had been sitting on it for a while. It turned out it had been heavily serviced at the local dealer so the issues list was mostly cosmetic + plenty of bent wheels. I've certainly put…
Sorry, no. First of all, the batteries are exceeding every expectation and GM is talking about a 15 year service life. They will eventually be recycled because they have valuable materials.
I would have had a hard time parting with a $7500 E39 M5! I would subsequently regret that decision...
Yeah, they really prefer that they don't break. They spend a lot of time running close to rated power too. Automotive engines loaf along. That 300hp is at only 2700rpm too, where the Hemi good for 225 or so.
My neighbor has that exact plane. It is completely mental. As you said, the control response is telepathic. Two fingers on the stick, a little pressure, and you're at 60 degrees bank. Of course, when my neighbor is in control (and we're in the approved box for aerobatics) he absolutely slashes the stick from…
