Assuming I’m black based on my typing is, um, what was the term I just coined? Oh right, “white stupidity.”

“niggly” Just shut the fuck up lol. We all know why you’re defending them, and that’s because you share the same racist thoughts. Just fuck off.
typical Yuppie racists. naturally. The same folks who openly rebel when their exclusive private preschool or elementary school decides to give a handful of scholarships to minority children.
Some years back I was working for a small PR firm - a husband and wife, working out of their home offices. I liked the converted garage office, I liked the kids, I liked him, I tolerated her. They handled PR for special effects companies and commercial production houses, so it was rather small potatoes, as far as the…
Am I crazy, or is he saying that because his wife was briefly responsible for their own kid, in between nannies, that she.....was “suffering from a very difficult situation”?
Nothing more fragile and cowardly than firing someone because you accidentally exposed your racism to them and feared the consequences. Why not just sincerely apologize to the nanny instead of firing her before she even did anything?
“I’m not someone who has millions of dollars lying around to just pay off people that are coming after me for extortion.”
In addition to the racism, I’m just boggled that anyone would hire a nanny - not a one-time babysitter but a nanny who’s going to care for your infant day in and day out and *live in your home* - without actually meeting her first. This wasn’t a job interview. It was Maurice showing up for her first day of work (and,…
What are the odds that the previous nanny — the one who didn’t show up to work and who happened to be black — didn’t show up to work because she was tired of bigotry-fueled abuse?
a) What kind of blonde bitch bimbo mistakenly sends a text of THAT magnitude to the wrong person, and the person that the text is ABOUT?! I feel bad for her kids cos if they inherit this bitch’s intelligence, their lives will be harder than it needs to be
When you assume everyone is as fragile as you are
I know we talk a lot about “white privilege” and “white fragility”, but I propose we add “white stupidity” to the lexicon. When playing dumb is so dumb it means you’re actually dumb. Like the couple in this story.
When I was a preschool teacher in my 20's, I said something racist to one of the moms. I’m white, she was black. I wasn’t aware at the time that the thing I’d said was racist; it was pure ignorance.
I would add another addendum:
You make your own choices, but as has been pointed out casual use of these terms is absolutely a problem.
I think you are at an empathy advantage and I think that’s another drawback of the “normal kids to the right, ‘special needs’ to the left” philosophy - taking people with different dis/abilities, learning styles and behaviours out of the general population - puts people at a general empathy disadvantage.
Then you share in the ignorance of your company.
This is a wonderful piece, and you sound like a great brother. But — as someone who understands the power of certain words, and how they’re used, you should get this — I wish you hadn’t used the phrase “confined to a wheelchair” multiple times. My wheelchair doesn’t have straps or locks that keep me from moving;…
I’m sorry, but short of a mechanic saying “the timing was retarded,” there’s no reason for those words in casual conversation, whether you’re talking about someone or not.
I have never been a violent person, at least not instinctively. Whenever I was teased as a child—I struggled to read…
