Are you surprised Jalopnik is actually reporting on a hugely anticipated new car reveal?

This article shows a fundamental lack of understanding of how crash safety requirements work. As a current crash safety engineer at a major OEM, please let me take a few moments to clear some things up.

Because GM isn’t run by hyperbolous egomaniacs who do too much micromanaging and have their hands in too many jars. As much as people stroke it for Tesla, they’re still in kindergarten and GM is a tenured college professor.

Yeah but what happens if you drop a toolbox on those aluminum switches?

If this isn’t sarcasm, you’re an idiot

Honestly at that price point, it really is Fuck the NSX, Fuck the BMW in Drag with Supra script on the back and most importantly, Fuck the GTR.

Can you just imagine all the meetings at Chevy when the Supra became official? The maniacal laughter must have been deafening when they realized they were gonna punch that in the face right out of the gate. Also, RIP modern NSX

Or put another way: $10k more than a Supra. And this has a removable roof.

Bad take. This will break necks at a (hopefully) great price point.

Huh.  I’ve never been a Corvette fan, and the silhouette under the camo had me worried... but this is a lot better than I expected.

Well, doesn’t that look pretty damn good.

This is a thing here in Portland too, and for many of the same reasons - low supply/high demand for affordable housing. To my knowledge however, nobody has made a business out of being a mobile slumlord. At least not yet. Maybe I’ll round up some roached out minivans and start a mobile homeless village.

Tiny thing:

won’t someone think of the forgotten boomers, that hard working class that pulled up every ladder after they climbed it and told the next generation, “we got ours, tough shit for you guys.”

This claim that Uber/Lyft were never meant to be a full-time gig is something the industry keeps saying, but it is pretty disingenuous. Why do they keep offering drivers all kinds of bonus and incentive programs to drive more and more hours then? Also they are playing a volume game – they know as well as you and I

If I’m reading that correctly, it looks as though many of those rules were added in 2016 and 2017. Why would a Republican controlled House add such rules limiting themselves like that?

There’s another, much more detailed discussion of the specific video technology that existed in 1969, and the author explains exactly why it would be impossible for NASA to have faked the footage that was on TV:
