Tire mechanic here. Buy cheap after-market wheels at your peril. Cheap after-market wheels, even aluminum ones, will get destroyed by corrosion and road abuse much faster than even the least expensive OEM wheels you can find.

Man, that fix-a-flat shit won’t repair a damn pin-hole let alone a legit slash through the tire carcass. All that crap does is waste money and piss us tire mechanics off because it makes a mess on our machines.

You wouldn’t believe some of the crazy bullshit I’ve seen. Cars running around with totally destroyed tires is definitely a common occurrence.  On top of that, many folks are hilariously unrealistic about the durability of tires in general.
