Also, perhaps the identical MPG numbers are down to the fact that, post Diesel-Gate, GM has reduced the amount that they are willing to “game the system”. I’d bet the 8-speed transmission really does yield an MPG improvement, and that the 2016 Colorado was just more optimistically rated.
