I am a huge Ridley Scott fan but this was pretty mediocre. It simultaneously was too long and yet skimmed over huge chunks of Napoleon’s life without giving much historical context for you to hang onto. Of course the big spectacle scenes were phenomenal and a lot of it was entertaining, but....it had issues. Without

It seems that British accents seem to stand in for most European accents in Hollywood. Even the actors in the most recent film version of Les Mis has English accents. Another recent one that stood out to me was Chernobyl. Actors playing Russians, speaking English in English accents.

I really like Jake Gyllenhall but I agree that this just doesn’t seem well-suited for this movie. It does look better than the Point Break movie which was dogshit

There goes my lucrative business plan to become a successful recording artist covering only Neil Young songs on Spotify under the name Neal Yung.

Yeah well I called my Canadian model girlfriend and she says she’s never heard of your Canadian model girlfriend and you’re full of shit!

I read it a few years ago for the first time and I remember almost giving up by page 100...then after that it suddenly gets awesome.

I just finished the Pacific book yesterday. It was really great but I liked Band of Brothers better - I think it offered a more straightforward narrative, not that always matters with history books. But it was easier for me to follow.

Thank you for putting into words the problem I couldn’t quite explain. In the original movies, Weyland-Yutani wants to exploit something borne of nature that is truly terrifying and inconceivable to what we know from earth. Of course, nature is uncontrollable and the corporation’s hubris causes so much more suffering

He sounds terrible. But just shouting “Leaving!” and dropping your costume upon your exit is fucking hilarious.

They should make a movie about this and get Justin Long to play him

The best GTA trailer (that I can recall) is still the San Andreas commercial with Welcome to the Jungle. The song choice was so perfect to get you hyped for the game.

I have sorely missed Highlight Reel since they dumped it a few years ago.

Terminator came out almost 40 years ago, we had decades of warning. Where were you in the 80's Biden?

Wow Dishonored 3 is such welcome unexpected news. I love those games.

This review is rough to read. I reread this “sentence” five times before moving on:

They kind of did this already with Scream 3 only it was still taking place in the universe of the movie with the Stab movies. So your idea is the next logical step for the most meta of slasher franchises!

LMAO. I missed that this was on MGM+ until the last word of the review. I didn’t even know that was a thing and now I guess I’ll never see it until MGM+ fails and sells it to Netflix or whoever.

I was fine with having watched that on Netflix, but I would have been pissed if I paid money to see it in a theater. Which is another thing - Netflix is able to pump out quickly consumable content which is where a lot of comedy movies have gone to live these days.
