One look at the VW Passat 2021 and the SUV apocalypse makes total sense. Who in their right mind would choose a sedan that bland over spending 4k extra and getting an Atlas ?

Because manufacturers only care about the warranty period. As soon as it’s done they want the car to break as much as possible so you can visit their dealers for repairs. Whenever they say automatic transmission lifetime interval - that just means warranty duration so if BMW comes with 80k miles lifetime warranty…
