Actually, in the testpunch ZL/ZR were mapped to left and right punch (as well as A/B). I still hope you can remap buttons, though, since pressing the left stick to shield isn’t very easy in a fight

Using a mouse is much faster (and relatively easier) than using a touchscreen for this game, since the touchscreen version requires some pretty big swipes for it to register a spell.

YES, go download and play them. Or at least download the soundtracks. Each game has an original soundtrack, and man, they’re really good, even compared to actual Sonic games, which is saying something.

In the beta, the Nearby list showed how far away the Pokemon was in 20 meter intervals, instead of the footprints. If I remember correctly, the list is in fact in order of distance from left to right, and the maximum distance a Pokemon could be and still show up on the list was 180-200 meters.
