Because the annotation includes links to the relevant Reddit and NeoGAF threads, whereas the article doesn't seem to facilitate those links.

Having actually been to Japan now, I'm able to place this photo. Yodobashi is huge! I miss Akihabara was my last stop before I came back. Kyoto and Mt. Fuji were great, but man, Akiba is a different animal altogether. Damnit, I want to go back! >_<

Wow.... talk about having the blinders on like a stubborn mule. If you just scaled down the monster/boss HP and scaled up the player skill damage, you can still keep the core gameplay in place and still make it so people still have to travel the world, still have to talk to people, still have to do quests, still have…
