Just homed our foster kitties and got a call about a little dog living outside. Now she’s here and we’re back up to five dogs. All are littles, a herd of ankle biters and are super cute. The new one has minor leg birth defects so might need surgery later on so could end up permanent. Tell me I’m not crazy. House is…
You don’t have to feel bad for choosing yourself. You didn’t pick him to be in your life and you are 100% allowed to kick him out. Don’t accept shitty treatment because of an accident of DNA.
My relationship with my father is beyond problematic and I haven’t been in contact with him for over 3 years. Reading all of you rave about your awesome dads makes me feel like shit (not your fault, obvs - I’m super happy that some of you have great dads). Anyone else who has cut contact with their father/main father…
Late to the thread but I picked up a foster dog today and she is giving me panic attacks. She’s a runner and already broke out of a harness and ran around our street for 40 minutes before she growled and rolled over to get picked up. Only the 2nd time in 20 years of fostering one got away and I can’t stop picturing…
There’s just a lot of lost dogs and cats in my neighborhood. And a lot of people selling stuff.
It’s critical to think about what you’re retiring to, not just what you’re retiring from.
Running shoes, Star Wars prints, and a popular electric smoker lead off Monday’s best deals from around the web.
I travel at least once a month. Disabled business travelers exist, so spare me the homily. If you haven’t waited for a wheelchair, you have no idea what it’s like but thanks for telling me how long I wait to have my powerchair delivered.
Your favorite Anker audio products, Civilization VI, and spring clothing for Prime members lead off Monday’s best…
Looking for advice on how avoid picking up the “second shift.” My lovely, kind, intelligent boyfriend also happens to be one of the messiest people I’ve ever met. I am planning to officially move into his apartment soon, and in anticipation I started investigating the cupboards, drawers, and corners to see how much…
I sometimes wonder if I’d be anywhere near as liberal and feminist as I am if my parents hadn’t been far right-wing evangelicals. I like to think I would, but I’m also well aware that I’m a very contrary person.
I’m in the gray so no one may see this, and it doesn’t really relate, but I’m looking for advice and figured I might as well ask my fellow Jezzies.
Cat behaviorist and former vet nurse here. Consult a shelter staff and ask (or look up) how to slowly introduce two cats. I worked at shelter with at least ten thousand (yes, that many) cats and I’ve asked new adopters to please let me know how it works for them. The method was given rave reviews and never heard…
I’d try fostering for a week or two to see what happens - my cat is also very social but he really fucking hates other animals, so he has to stay home alone most of the day. He’s used to it though, he will just be needier than usual when we get home at night.
