Spring thread! I spent the afternoon planting stuff. Some marigolds...

If you have pets, don’t forget to keep pet food on hand and include them in your water calculation.

I went to see the Lego Batman movie a month or so ago. There was a family with two elementary age kids directly in front of me, and they responded to every execrable preview by shouting, “I WANT TO SEE THAT SO BAD!”

If you can figure out a way for people with allergies to magically ensure that they don’t eat anything that makes them sick without ever asking whether or not the thing that makes sick is present in the food, please share it with the class.

This is why so many people voted for — and continue to support — Trump even as he promised to gut the programs they depend on for survival. They honestly believe there’s a fundamental difference between the “good” programs for (white) people in “legitimate need” that keep them afloat and the programs that exist to

I’m sorry I don’t have specific foot advice - but - if it is muscle related, have you thought about going to a massage therapist and having someone work on it? I had this nagging pain in my shoulder that WOULD NOT go away. Got worse over months, ibuprofen wouldn’t help at all. I finally had the thought to book an

Ugh. I’ll go out on a limb and guess that a guy who breaks up with you because the sex wasn’t good the very first time that you did it is either: a) young, b) inexperienced, c) hung up on someone else, or d) some combination of these things.

And somehow it’s always the same people who respond to every rape by claiming the victim brought it on herself and that women can easily avoid being raped if they just stop being stupid and careless.

Buster and Sophie. Sophie is the little curly one; Buster is the one who would really like the camera to know that there are MUCH better things he could be doing right now.

Oh, I’m so glad. It’s nothing short of insane to me that doctors don’t make clear how common follow-ups are — it’s a scary situation no matter what, but knowing that up to 20% of patients get targeted for follow up and only 10% of those actually have cancer makes that fear a lot more manageable.

Was it your first mammogram? Something like 20% of first-time mammogram patients gets called back for a diagnostic and ultrasound, and even for subsequent mammograms, there’s like a 10% callback rate. And less than 10% of women called in for follow-ups actually have cancer. Here’s a friendly NPR article on the

It’s a longshot, but check under any upholstered furniture, and under your bed; he might have ripped up the muslin on the bottom and climbed inside. And if you have a sofa bed, open it up and check inside there too.

Today was nice. I spent the day with a friend (and former colleague) and we have this really lovely friendship that can seem a bit unconventional at times to others, mainly because of our age difference. I’m 34 and she’s 57. I’m single with no kids and she’s married with three daughters who are all in their early

I used to be a morning person. Sat up like a jack-in-the-box when my alarm went off, smiled all day long, and went to bed at 10pm. I miss that girl.

It is tough. I rescued him through a Doberman rescue group. Your years with that beautiful dog will more than make up for the final goodbye. I do take solace in that . He was a handsome, tough, goofy dog. Those years beat today in a landslide . Thanks for the thoughts.

My favorite hello, my hardest goodbye...

I just put down my Doberman today. 10 years old. Fighting bone cancer. He fought his ass off but wimpered and cried the last few nights and I couldn’t put him through it anymore. My first dog. My best friend. That growl just sent me into chopped onions area. Bears are amazing. All animals are amazing.

Oooo post a pic!
