I had figured she was just going to build so may superspirit railguns that the rest of the world would be overwhelmed. Didn't see The twist of the Metal Colossus.

That alone made her irredeemable to me. Someone who would try to kill the avatar? Plenty of people like that its not that unusual. But trying to kill an Air Bison? A potential relative of Appa? Well Kuvira you can just go to hell.

Kyoshi had her flaws too. Her dealings with the Earth Kingdom government of the day led to the creation of the Dai Li which in turn as a group, was a factor in the weakening and corruption of the Kingdom's central government. Arguably it led to issues affecting the show's world several hundred years later.

Korra's idea worked in so far as getting Battar Jr. to respond to her demands. She was just unfortunate in that none of them, Battar Jr included, underestimated the full extent of her egomania.

He might name the deus ex machine he creates after Zhu Li and show his affection that way.

Well said about the parallel of Bolin and Wu in this episode. It was interesting how Bataar Jr not only was horrified at the idea of his little sister being vaporised but also risked his neck in trying to shut down the hyper beam cannon even as he told the other workers to run to safety.

Well I suppose Kuvira is kind of the adoptive sister of Battar Jr although that would make Kuvira more like Petyr Baelish and Batar Jr like Lysa Arryn.
