Technically the ones buying SUVs are getting taxed more because their vehicles are less fuel efficient AND cost more. I mean, yes, poor people are hurt more by utilization taxes, but in this case I don’t think that’s an issue.

I see two answers, to solve two problems:

Yeah, the Bolt is $6k cheaper, and over $7k cheaper when you factor in gas.

It is a matter of dose and exposure, and VW violated both by misrepresenting exhaust pollution.

Diesel smog is a lethal pollutant.

The picture is obviously not a real car, or not a production car. It's too low, but it clearly looks similar to a Mazda 6, Altima, and of course an Accord.

There’s a picture. The Altima and Mazda6 are real. This isn’t like looking at the highlights of a shadow. We get to play the “the picture looks like game”.

Really? I think it’s going to look like a cross between an Altima and a Mazda 6.

This is depressing. The average household has $15k in CC debt and could take over 5 years to pay off? And the average household income is like $51k and the median salary is like $18k, so the average person has like $5k CC debt?

There is a difference if you can pass the house down over three generations though. It’s like paying off a car after four years and keeping it for another 8. Instead of paying $8k a year for the car you’re paying $2k in repairs and maintenance and pocketing $6k a year for 8 years. With a house the same is true;

That’s okay, you can congratulate yourself on having a job and being more capable. Really, it’s okay.

Why does a spyder have to be heavier than a coupe? That doesn’t grok for me. Less seats, less roof material, but more weight?

I disagree. I think raising awareness of the problem is the only way to solve it.

There is no good response. If you are pro life and want to make abortion difficult then it is congruent to place the same restrictions on buying a gun. If you are pro choice, which means the women have rights, then you are in the same camp as the gun rights activists fighting to keep their right to buy and own guns.

I don't see the problem. Buying a gun is actively pro choice. As in, giving you the choice to kill someone.

Batteries aren’t the only way to store enough charge for an electric drive boost. Toyota already demonstrated exactly what I’m talking about using a two motor+engine setup with a supercapacitor in a Yaris:

I imagine that a hybrid system where the electric drive provides ‘boost’ is the ultimate anti-lag technology. In other words the electric motor spins up instantly while the turbo is still spooling up.

Right? You paid for the product on features that don't exist. It's not like buying a 38mpg car and getting 34mpg, it's like buying a plugin hybrid and finding out the charging hardware doesn't work at all.

Wait until you’ve been defrauded to the tune of thousands. I doubt you would be so blasé.

I understand. You’re willing to pay the premium for the possibility of more HP and torque than Mazda is capable of providing.
